Not sure how #63 is related? that one is me adding info about the template of the ans file.
David, I think the force ntpdate was added by you at the time, no? in any event, I don't think we need it, do you?

It was added by me yes, and I would say it's necessary, especially on virtual machines. However it conflicts with the start of NTPD during the postinst of kaltura-base. ntpdate needs the available ntp socket, which is occupied as soon as ntpd starts.

ntpd would occupy the socket thus making ntpdate impossible to work.
But why did you find starting the NTP daemon was not enough on VMs?
