Versions

  • Python: 3.7
  • Buildozer: 0.38.dev0

Description

Whether I set app orientation to landscape or portrait in the buildozer.spec file, the app is always built in landscape mode. How can I fix this issue?

Make sure you are using Kivy's master branch, or a recent commit. This will be done automatically if your python-for-android is up to date, try cleaning the .buildozer directory in your app dir and running buildozer again.

I'm not sure from the reports about this if there's still a bug with it, or if people are not realising they haven't deleted a cached Kivy from a previous build. If the problem persists after rebuilding everything, please post the log and the issue can be reopened.

I still got this problem. I set orientation to portrait but still got landscape in my phone. What I'm using is Kivy Complete VM - 0.7. My buildozer.spec file is:

List as sections

You can define all the "list" as [section:key].

Each line will be considered as a option to the list.

Let's take [app] / source.exclude_patterns.

Instead of doing:

#[app]
#source.exclude_patterns = license,data/audio/.wav,data/images/original/

This can be translated into:

#[app:source.exclude_patterns]
#license
#data/audio/.wav
#data/images/original/

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Profiles

You can extend section / key with a profile

For example, you want to deploy a demo version of your application without

HD content. You could first change the title to add "(demo)" in the name

and extend the excluded directories to remove the HD content.

#[app@demo]
#title = My Application (demo)

#[app:source.exclude_patterns@demo]
#images/hd/*

Then, invoke the command line with the "demo" profile:

#buildozer --profile demo android debug

In case more people have this issue, I was able to resolve it by disabling the following line in android near the top of my main.py:

from kivy import platform
if platform != 'android':
    Config.set('graphics', 'resizable', False) # Prevent window from being resized

There are probably other config or window manipulations in python that will interfere with the buildozer.spec setting, so try experimenting with disabling other related commands.
