TARDIS (Temporal Analysis of Relative Distances in sptPALM) is a software created to get unbiased and accurate single-particle tracking (spt) information directly from localization data. It is especially powerful in difficult spt conditions, such as heavily blinking particles, high density of localizations, or with a lot of additional noise. The full overview of the scientific implementation of the algorithms underlying TARDIS can be found in the manuscript:

Martens et al., “Temporal analysis of relative distances (TARDIS) is a robust, parameter-free alternative to single-particle tracking”, Nature Methods, 2024.

Release updates

  • Added custom-pdf fitting routine: TARDIS now enables fitting with user-defined, custom-created fitting routines. In the UI, 'custom PDF' can be selected, after which any PDF described by a *.m file found in /Main/Core/Fitting functions/CustomPDFs can be selected. Look at CustomPDF_Example_1pop.m for an example case. CustomPDFs include, but are not limited to, confined diffusion and diffusion under drift. Please note that custom-pdf fitting routines only work when launching TARDIS-ui from within MATLAB, not from stand-alone version
  • Added spatialTARDIS: TARDIS can be run in a way to provide spatial results. Follow /Main/Functions/Core/spatialTARDIS.m for an exemplary script
  • Added analyticalTARDIS: An analytical description of TARDIS is found under /Main/Functions/AnalyticalTARDIS

Release updates

  • Prior parameters can now be obtained for swift (Endesfelder et al., manuscript in preparation) and MHT (Multiply Hypothesis Tracking, Chenouard et al, 2012). Via the GUI there are checkmarks, and .json or .xml files will be created for swift/MHT respectively.
