I was planning on removing that addition to the backbone source altogether. It doesn't make any sense to require a specific npm package when they are just shims, nevermind the fact that Backbone works with jquery, ender, and zepto as well. |

the browserify-jquery package in NPM is referencing an old version of jQuery and is not maintained any more
