- I do not use social media sites anymore.
- JavaScript is the worst language the world has ever seen.
- VKontakte is getting worse, and worse... They do not even allow using the API to access the user's messages anymore.
Lite VK API wrapper for Node.JS
VKontakte updated their privacy policy, and as a result of that refuses to give tokens with 'messages' access which is required for long polling. They have seen this project but refused to give me one anyway, so that I have no way to test polling for a user account. According to all the above, the user long polling part has been removed from this wrapper.
Instead of the old way VKontakte expects developers to use Bot Polling API which is supported in this project.
npm install vkapi-lite
const ClientInstance = require('vkapi-lite');
const client = new ClientInstance({
token: 'YOUR_TOKEN', // default: '' (empty string)
debug: true, // default: false
logger: console.log, // if debug true
version: 5.125, // default 5.125
});
// The old way.
client.callMethod('users.get', {
user_ids: 1,
fields: 'screen_name',
}).then(console.log);
// Modern async/await way.
const getUserName = async function fetchUserNameById(id) {
const user = await client.callMethod('users.get', {
user_ids: id,
})
console.log(user[0].first_name);
};
getUserName(1);
// Possible events: https://vk.com/dev/groups_events
client.on('wall_post_new', (event) => {
console.log(event);
client.stopBotPolling();
});
// Bots Long Poll: https://vk.com/dev/bots_longpoll
client.startBotPolling();
