The magnetic pull causes severe enough vessel bounce that zeroing out velocity for a successful dock is hindered.

Just tested this, magnetic force appears to be fine, if a little weak. Is this a current issue with 0.90 / FASA 0.5 still?

@Felger the issue is that the magnetic force is too strong for the limits on docking velocity, and should be made weaker (the problem is the max docking velocity is so low the magnetic force pulls you faster than is allowed, thus requiring you to thrust against the force). Or such was the issue when @jrandom reported it...

I recall the conversation on reddit, I did some testing with the Apollo ports and it didn't seem too hard to dock them, but I'll give them a second look.
