  • Add new flag for configuring metrics export.
  • Modify tests to use naive fake for controller metrics

This will allow us to increase export frequency to comply with sampling theorem: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nyquist%E2%80%93Shannon_sampling_theorem

Hi @cezarygerard. Thanks for your PR.

I'm waiting for a kubernetes member to verify that this patch is reasonable to test. If it is, they should reply with /ok-to-test on its own line. Until that is done, I will not automatically test new commits in this PR, but the usual testing commands by org members will still work. Regular contributors should join the org to skip this step.

Once the patch is verified, the new status will be reflected by the ok-to-test label.

I understand the commands that are listed here.

Instructions for interacting with me using PR comments are available here. If you have questions or suggestions related to my behavior, please file an issue against the kubernetes/test-infra repository.

Can you put the reason to make this a flag instead of just changing the constant?

(Add to commit message)

We need to increase the frequency to at least 1/5minutes, but this may not be the final value.
From observability POV the more frequent the better.
With this change we can tune the frequency without rebuilding the binary, and without releasing new tags.

This will allow us to increase export frequency to comply with sampling theorem
