Hi @rudeigerc. Thanks for your PR.

I'm waiting for a kubernetes member to verify that this patch is reasonable to test. If it is, they should reply with /ok-to-test on its own line. Until that is done, I will not automatically test new commits in this PR, but the usual testing commands by org members will still work. Regular contributors should join the org to skip this step.

Once the patch is verified, the new status will be reflected by the ok-to-test label.

I understand the commands that are listed here.

Instructions for interacting with me using PR comments are available here. If you have questions or suggestions related to my behavior, please file an issue against the kubernetes/test-infra repository.

We should make sure that users use an NLB if they specify a certificate and are using k8s >= 1.19 because classic ELBs won't work, but we can add that validation in a separate PR.

Thanks!

oh nevermind, we already do 🙂

if spec.API.LoadBalancer.SSLCertificate != "" && spec.API.LoadBalancer.Class != kops.LoadBalancerClassNetwork && c.IsKubernetesGTE("1.19") {
allErrs = append(allErrs, field.Forbidden(fieldPath, "sslCertificate requires network loadbalancer for K8s 1.19+ see https://github.com/kubernetes/kops/blob/master/permalinks/acm_nlb.md"))
}

so this means you'll need to provide --api-loadbalancer-class=network when also setting --api-ssl-certificate for k8s >= 1.19
