Welcome to the repository for the Software Freedom Day (SFD) website associated with the Kathmandu University Open Source Community (KUOSC). This website serves as an informational platform for the annual global celebration of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) at Kathmandu University.

About Software Freedom Day

Software Freedom Day (SFD) is an annual global celebration of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). It aims to educate the public and increase awareness about the benefits of free software, as well as encourage its use. SFD has been celebrated since its inception on August 28, 2004, and has grown into a global event with over 300 events organized by over 100 cities worldwide.

🚀 Kathmandu University Open Source Community (KUOSC)

KUOSC is the Open Source-related wing of Kathmandu University Computer Club (KUCC). It is a vibrant and historic community within Kathmandu University that provides a common platform for all FOSS enthusiasts. KUOSC focuses on various Open Source-related activities, including training programs, advocacy activities, and community-level workshops and events.

🎉 SFD Event

  • Date: 16 September, 2023
  • Time: 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Venue: KU Ciku Hall

These events provided a platform for participants to learn about the world of open-source software, its history, and its impact on various fields.

During the Software Freedom Day Event, several informative sessions were conducted by industry experts and FOSS enthusiasts, including topics such as openHPC, Open Tech, Open Source Licenses, Careers in Open Source, Libreoffice Localization, and more. Participants also had the opportunity to engage in open discussions, enjoy tea breaks, and witness the distribution of certificates and tokens of appreciation. The event concluded with the announcement of KUOSC projects and a memorable cake cutting ceremony followed by a photo session.
