Background & motivation

This was a temporary work around to send some cloud data with metrics. With #1703 we have a better solution thats global.

Desired behaviour

These should be removed from protobuf and the library.

How important is this to you?

Painful; the lack of this feature makes using Kurtosis frictionful.
