Tool for putting a Apple Silicon Mac into DFU mode Full credit to Asahi Linux project for making the macvdmtool. https://asahilinux.org https://www.bkurtz.io/posts/macvdmtool/ I just took his tool and made a nice .app out of it.
Setup steps.
- Download Apple Configurator 2 from the Mac App store. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/apple-configurator-2/id1037126344?mt=12
- Launch Apple Configuration 2 and install the "Automation Tools".
- Download my DFU tool https://github.com/kylejericson/DFU_Tool/archive/refs/tags/1.0.zip
- Download a .ipsw from Mr Macintosh https://mrmacintosh.com/apple-silicon-m1-full-macos-restore-ipsw-firmware-files-database/
- Connect your other Apple Silicon Mac via USB-C cable. A good write up about this on Step 5. https://mrmacintosh.com/restore-macos-firmware-on-an-apple-silicon-mac-boot-to-dfu-mode/
- Open my DFU tool and enter your admin password
- In Apple Configurator drag your .ipsw file on to your other Mac in DFU mode and click restore
- Wait for the Mac to reinstall macOS and done.
