got a vara command I wasn't expecting: ENCRYPTION DISABLED

I have been running pat on a Windows system with VARA HF v4.6.1 for some time without any difficulties and recently decided to update both pat and VARA. The pat update to v15 was not a problem. But I encountered a problem when I updated VARA HF to v4.7.7

When pat connects to a VARA gateway, I am seeing the following error message...
got a vara command I wasn't expecting: ENCRYPTION DISABLED

Has anyone else seen this issue? Is there a fix? (other than use the earlier version of VARA...)
