Spatial Indexing

I am wondering if there is any interest in expanding the functionality of laspy to take advantage of spatial indexing, specifically the .lax files generated by LASlib?

I think we would merge a patch if it had a convenient API and the ability to both read and write LAX files.

@hobu I was just about to email you about this, actually. I am thinking of tackling this in the next few months, but I am relatively new to C & C++, so it may take me a while to decode what exactly LASlib is doing and how it would fit into the architecture of laspy.
