RadWatch gamma analysis:

  • Import SPE file
  • Apply known energy calibration if needed (should already be in SPE)
  • Verify energy calibration and adjust
  • (Subtract background?)
  • Look for peaks at given energies
  • Get net area or MDA
  • Apply known efficiency calibration
  • Get Bq for each isotope of interest
  • Use sample metadata to get Bq/kg for sample

##Neutron Activation Analysis:

  • Import SPE file
  • Apply known energy calibration
  • Perform peak search
  • Peak identification (possibly computer-assisted using isotope data from web)
  • Peak fitting, net area
  • Apply known efficiency calibration (or use a reference sample...)
  • Get Bq for each isotope
  • Use irradiation and measurement metadata to compute elemental quantities

##Energy calibration:

  • Repeat as needed:
  • Import SPE file
  • Perform peak search
  • Peak identification (by user)
  • Create energy calibration
  • Optionally: Measure FWHM vs. energy
  • Optionally: Save energy calibration into SPE file

##Efficiency calibration:

  • Repeat as needed:
  • Import SPE file
  • Apply known energy calibration
  • Look for peaks at given energies
  • Input source activity with isotope branching ratios (down the line, this could be connected with the isotope data from web, and half-life calculation using reference activity & date)
  • Create efficiency calibration
