Excludes

The client installer installs an /etc/simbur/exclude.conf suitable for a Mac or Ubuntu desktop or laptop.

For an Ubuntu server, a more appropriate exclude list might be:

/tmp
/root
/compat
/rules
/source
/changelog
/run
/boot
/dev
/proc
/sys
/swap.img
/snap
/usr
/srv
/media
/mnt
/bin
/lib
/lib32
/lib64
/libx32
/sbin

This will back up /home, /var (so you get your web sites and log files), and /etc (so you get your configuration, particularly Nginx). It's not suitable for simply restoring a server, but it's not hard to spin up a new server (that's scripted, right?), and then just add the files you really needed to back up.
