About a year ago, while on holiday, I had the idea to automate switching lights in my house. It had to be controlled using an Raspberry PI. So first thing I did was ordering an RPI starter kit with power supply, HDMI cable and housing, then I ordered some ITead Sonoff devices. The Sonoff's firmware was not suitable for my intended use so it got replaced with Sonoff-Tasmota, a firmware that talks MQTT.
The next step was to select an appropriate IoT control system. Both options I tried, OpenHab2 and PiDome, failed for me so I decided to craft my own system. The results of this ongoing effort are found in this repository.
