kakoune-nightly

This repository contains the files necessary to build Archlinux packages of the kakoune project, along with a customized version using a few pull requests proposed by contributors.

Notes

Here are a few notes about the packages and how they are generated:

• the version of the package is generated after some git metadata (e.g. commits count/hash)

• build flags provided by makepkg are ignored to allow the project to compiled with the exact same options that its author intended it to be built with

• the paths to the ccache compiler are hardcoded, making any hardening of the binary through the usual means (i.e. a g++ wrapper) impossible

• the "categories" of builds are exclusive, but only inter-category packages are declared as conflicting to the package manager so as not to have to edit all the PKGBUILD files every time a new category is created

  Example: the `kakoune-nightly` and `kakoune-nightly-debug` builds
  can't be installed together, the package manager knows they are
  conflicting packages. However the `kakoune-nightly-lenormf` and
  `kakoune-nightly` packages don't explicitly conflict: the package
  manager will gladly try to install them along side of each other, but
  will fail because they provide the same files (e.g. `/usr/bin/kak`)
