This repository is intended to be a guide for researchers using MTurk, and specifically for those using MTurk to run Qualtrics surveys. A large part of the repository right now (Feb 2020) is geared towards helping researchers pay out bonuses in bulk in MTurk, which is not a streamlined process in the MTurk user interface.
Qualtrics_MTurk_Bonus_Processing_Template.py
- This is a Python script intended to replace the similarly named R markdown script and the need to use the command line (Terminal) to pay out bonuses. The script takes a Qualtrics results CSV file, an MTurk results CSV file (download results for batch) and pays out the appropriate bonuses. It is intended to be built on for specific payment schemes (users can add more correct answer checks or change the method of calculating score). Once configured, this script can pay workers from an MTurk account and should be used at the user's own risk.
update_qualifications_template.py
- This is a Python script that can assign workers that took a HIT (specified which HIT by the HIT ID in the script) and assign them a qualification type and score. If your AWS account has not been configured in Terminal, this script requires your AWS keys. For help on acquiring your AWS keys, see "Creating_MTurk_Account.docx."
- This script assumes the relevent worker qualification type has been created on the MTurk website.
Qualtrics_MTurk_Bonus_Processing_Template.Rmd
- This is an R markdown file that serves as a general template for processing Qualtrics results along with MTurk results to create a file with Amazon Web Services (AWS) commmands to run at one time in a bash script.
- This file is not intended to be run without editing. Each survey has its own attention checks and bonus payment scheme,
and the code will need to be edited to accomodate that.

Using Bash to Efficiently Pay MTurk Bulk Bonuses
- This is a more advanced guide to pay bulk bonuses. The process is streamlined and less prone to error than the simpler guide, although it does require a fair amount of code (detailed steps included)
