E-ink tablet not recognized #82
Comments
I have a similar problem since a recent OpenSUSE Tumbleweed update. Neither my smartphone nor my tablet works anymore: Trying to connect my smartphone:Try libmtp~> mtp-detect Listing raw device(s) ~> mtp-connect Device 0 (VID=22b8 and PID=2e82) is a Motorola Moto G (ID2). This than hangs Try mtpfs alternativesudo mtpfs -o allow_other ~/mnt This than also hangs Trying to connect my tablet:Try libmtp~> mtp-detect Listing raw device(s) After a minute or so I get a message on the tablet that the computer cannot access the data. Repeating the above command leads to the same results. ~> mtp-connect Device 0 (VID=04e8 and PID=6860) is a Samsung Galaxy models (MTP). This than hangs ~> sudo mtpfs -o allow_other ~/mnt Allow access on Tablet and repeat: sudo mtpfs -o allow_other ~/mnt This than also hangs |
for the eink tablet ... does it work as root? sudo mtp-detect ? |
I mange to get it connected and transfer files to the device using "Android File Transfer". I think it has it's own MTP implementation, had to kill kio-mtp (included in kio-extras) for AFT to work. It do detect the device somehow with mtp-detect (part of the output attached above), but doesn't really find it anyway when trying to connect to it. |
OK, this is very likely a libmtp problem. I tried adb and android_file_transfer (has an independent MTP implementation) successfully. |
Hmm.. not sure why, but Dolphin actually detected and opened my device today. Might me a temporarily issue I had last time i tried. |

I just got a e-ink tablet (Supernote A5X) and trying to transfer files to it (only way is with MTP), but just get this error in journal:
I'm using Arch with KDE and Dolphin don't detect it at all, just complain about not finding any compatible MTP devices.
Get this output from mtp-detect:
