I have installed a cpu monitor (CPUMonitorMini from the market) which shows a graph of processor usage in the status bar. I don't know if it's reliable, but it does show quite high CPU usage constantly while showing the board. This is without running gnugo, and just waiting for a move. The only thing moving is the flashing stone showing who's move it is. This is on HTC Desire.

If this is accurate, in the interest of battery life I hope it can be remedied :)

I'm seeing it go to about 50% using CPUMonitorMini. Is that same as what you're seeing? I'll see what I can do about it.

Yep, but I'd say it's closer to 60-70% on my device. Thanks for looking into it!

Ok, I submitted a change that slows down the update rate of the flashing stone. It seems to improve it on my device. It's still taking some cpu though.

No answer for a while, and looks low enough to me. Eventually I may add an option to remove the alpha blending on the stone that tells you whose move it is. That's the only thing that takes cpu a majority of the time.
