PxGamepad is worth a look. Mentioned in a HTML5 gamepad article.

PxGamepad, https://github.com/thinkpixellab/PxGamepad/, should be a good option. Its short an readable. It isn't on npm but it should be able to be included in the lib itself. Remember to update the docs when you get rid of gamepad-mod.

PxGamepad has a dependency on jQuery, and on IE Edge. There are no browser prefixes for anything. The structure is gorgeous tho. Gamepad-mod should be structured in a similar way.
