Presuming that the user knows the PIN for the card, they should be given the option to create a new user using the card anyways, or the choice to erase the card. Unless modify myself a custom firmware, I have no way to recover this card (thankfully it's not blocked, though it took some low level modification to be sure of that w/o blocking the card).

so this use case would happen if you don't press "yes" for the "do you have other cards?" question when you click erase in the settings menu, correct?

How would I get to this menu if I have no other cards? Inserting this card results in "Unknown card id", "Please remove card".

I think we're not understanding each other... could you explain your bug use case? What did you use to erase the MP?

I think the order events that landed me here were: Initialize card with MP, add user with card, add some credentials, erase MP's flash.

However, another way to reach the same state would be to initialize card on MP A, add user on A, add credentials on A, bring card to MP B. (Hypothetically, let's say I no longer have access to MP A: Lost, broken, or it was someone else's)

In both these cases, I need a way to erase/initialize what is a perfectly usable card: I know the PIN number, and I don't care about the contents of the card.

So you used the plugin to erase the MP's flash?
If so, this is not considered as normal behavior as the user should use the delete menu in the MP

In your second use case then you'd need to import your flash on the second MP... and if you lost the MPA it only makes sense that you buy a new one with a new card...

Why can't I re-purpose a perfectly usable, frankly slightly difficult to
obtain, card?

Because it'd make the GUI more complex for users?
Anyway, I agree with your opinion, which is why we may implement a hidden menu in the plugin to unlock and erase a card ;)

Yup, as long as it's implemented somewhere :-p if I didn't have the ability
to hack the mp, I'd be mighty grumpy if I had a perfectly good but locked
key card ;-)
