Cinnamon crash when USB headset is plugged in #1017
Comments
Couldn't find a way to attach a file so here's a copy/paste of the logs: Aug 9 16:43:01 user-laptop kernel: [ 423.180660] usb 3-1: new full-speed USB device number 2 using xhci_hcd |
This is the system log which is not really useful if only Cinnamon crashes. Please run cinnamon --replace in terminal, then you get the output from Cinnamon. |
Not sure I understand what you asked for. If I open a terminal and run 'cinnamon --replace' then create the crash then that output is also gone. I tried to do 'cinnamon --replace >> output.txt' but that didn't seem to work. If I go to a different tty and run 'cinnamon --replace' it says: Window manager error: Unable to open X display How exactly should I collect this output? |
Are you sure that it's a Cinnamon crash? Please try another desktop as well. |
I'm rather sure this isn't a Cinnamon crash. If it is, then you should not have everything gone. Rather, it should be that all the Cinnamon stuff (e.g. panels) are gone and the windows become borderless. Anyway, if you want to try, you go to tty1 and then login, and type cinnamon --replace -d :0 |
Hi devs, please check the log at Aug 9 16:43:02. It might help finding the nature of the problem. |
You're right guys, it's not Cinnamon. Seems to be X. |
@pmarcelll your log is useless and shows nothing. |
@LunaticoCR You can use pastebin: http://pastebin.com/ And you should close the issue. |
Closing this issue here as it's not a Cinnamon problem. Sorry for the false alarm guys. I'll follow-up on this at: |
I have a Plantronics Blackwire C610 headset. When I plug it into my laptop Cinnamon seems to be crashing and I'm left on a terminal window.
I will have to Ctrl+Alt+F1 to go to a different tty, login and issue a shutdown command to reboot.
If I boot the laptop with the headset plugged in already, it goes straight to terminal screen and never loads GUI.
I have attached syslogs, I plugged the device, crash, unplugged the device, logged in and did a reboot.
Please let me know if there is more information I should provide.
