Configuration: Can't modify favorite apps #1
Comments
Just for clarification purposes (I've just started testing Cinnamon under Linux Mint 12-64 bit), is this referring to "Default Applications" as seen under "System Info" in "System Settings"? Or is does this refer to modifying the 'Favorites' area in Cinnamons' "Mint Menu" which I haven't found a way to do yet. |
Hi KirkM, This is for the favorites in the menu (which should be "menu" actually, not "mintMenu".. we'll have to fix that as well). |
Thanks Clem. Once last question as I'm testing all 3 desktops included in LM 12 (I'm not bothering with "Fallback" mode). and trying to keep all acronyms straight and I'm not too sure what 'gsettings' refers' to exactly. |
Whichever I'd describe gsettings I'm sure it'd be wrong, think of it as gconf++ :) Type the following in a terminal: gsettings list-recursively org.cinnamon All these are gsettings keys, schemas... it's a configuration repository where we place settings and access them. |
Ah, got it. I'll leave it as is for now as i need to train myself up on changing things in gsettings via the terminal that specifically apply to Cinnamon. |
Update: I've installed 'dconf-tools' and have used the 'dconf Editor' to successfully modify the apps shown in the panel and the Favorites area of the menu. I should have posted here earlier but the holidays kept me busy. |
