Reverts rect caching and obstructed windows optimizations.

See plan B in linuxmint/cinnamon#8602.

The following commits were also reversed for this to work, but we could re-implement them on top without affecting stability:

  • Replace some GLib wrappers
  • Replace some deprecated GDK methods
  • Expose the sync method to preferences
  • Fix unredirection for wine games, mpv
