[lit-html/development] parentNode is null

In single page applications, in development mode, when I navigate away from a page where I've used a Lit Web Component, I get this error: parentNode is null. I have a disconnectedCallback-function in my component, where I remove event-listeners and other stuff I've added during the life cycle of the component. Is there a universal cleanup I'm not aware of, or is it more likely that I've added something myself, that I need to clean up?

Turns out my problem was the other way around: my cleanup function cleaned up too much. I had an unnecessary nullification, and when I removed it the problem went away.
