Option to load partial chunks (heightwise)

Can you add an option for loading only the top/bottom part of a chunk. I have to download all my caves including thousands of emitting torches to render the surface.

For a temporary fix, you could remove the bottom parts of your chunks with an external editor (e.g. mcedit) in a copy of your world.
