Cost-Distance Generates Octagonal Features #2013

In areas of "homogeneous" media, our current cost-distance implementation can tend to generate octagonal features. This is a well-known problem that is known to exist in the "classical" cost-distance algorithm.

The article [1] gives one approach for solving this.
