Desura is dual licensed. One as open source software under the GPL v3 and also a commercial license held by Desura Pty Ltd.

As such any patches that are requested to be pulled into the official client need to be free of GPL issues and also the developers will have to agree to allow Desura Pty Ltd unrestricted access as outlined here.
