Slows to a crawl in development and EOF error during cap deploy #10

Running the pusher-client gem locally seems to slow the app down to crawl after a certain amount of time (tested on Passenger). And when deploying it to a remote server it's throwing an EOF error during the cap deployment. Is anyone successfully using the pusher-client gem in production without any memory issues?
