Contacts are not Synced from the Phone to the WhatsApp Contacts Page.
Is there any restriction on the number of Contacts in loqui for WhatsApp?

@TitanNano
Copy link
Contributor

no there are no limitations, but you only see contacts which also use WhatsApp.

gargsms commented Oct 30, 2015

I agree with @TitanNano. For a contact to be displayed in your roster, they need to have registered with WhatsApp at some point of time.

@decode-dev Can you check if the contacts you are missing out in Loqui appear in an Android WhatsApp install?

@decode-dev

Author

Yah checked them and the problem is solved.
Thanks

I have many more than 13 contacts with a WhatsApp account, even then only these 13 are imported. In Android WhatsApp install all my WhatsApp contacts are imported. Ex.: my brother and sister have WhatsApp accounts but they are not included in the 13 imported contacts.

okay can you provide us some logs? Particularly from when you sync your contacts.

Yes, I am attaching them here

So sorry for the above, I didn't know the image would be so big. The logs are text files but they are not supported here. Is there some other way to provide them?

@TitanNano

you can either use markdown to mark it as code or put them on paste bin.

@gaby2300

gaby2300 commented Nov 3, 2015

I used paste bin, it's a very long thing. Will it be all right to paste it here?

@TitanNano

yes just post the link here, I'll check it out.

unfortunately logcat messed up the log a little, so some parts are cut off. But from what I see it looks to me that whatsapp doesn't like some of the phone numbers. did you include the country code in all of them?

@TitanNano
Copy link
Contributor

can you try to get a log from WebIDE?

@gaby2300
Copy link

gaby2300 commented Nov 3, 2015

Maybe not, I don't know. Actually, I don't remember including any phone number with or without the country code, I suppose WhatsApp synced them automated. The problem is Loqui does not support adding contacts for WhatsApp

@TitanNano
Copy link
Contributor

yes because we take all your contacts and send them to whatsapp. WhatsApp then returns which phone numbers are registered and which not.

@gaby2300
Copy link

gaby2300 commented Nov 3, 2015

Yet my brother and sister use WhatsApp daily and those contacts are not included.

I remember a long time ago Loqui included all my WhatsApp contacts without any issue at all. Then after a Firefox OS update I suppose, I began having issues regarding my contacts receiving my messages but I didn't receive their answers.

unfortunately the log only contains the first part of the connecting process. We need one of the contact syncing.

gaby2300 commented Nov 5, 2015

Unfortunately I am having another issue now: trying to obtain the WebIDE log again, Loqui does not open. I get a message about an error at the top: app not loading/relaunching. I get no information in the Console.
If I open Loqui manually, I get a warning about authentication failed.
I can't even delete Loqui to install it again, as it is I can't delete any app. Maybe the new FOTA build (today's one) has these issues, I don't really know.
Let's wait and see what tomorrow's build brings!

Many thanks for your help anyway!!!

I got the log but I can´t upload it in github because the format is not
supports nor via pastebin because it seems it doesn't support the format
either, that's why I'm attaching it here hoping it won't be inconvenient
for you. I also hope it will help you understand what the issue is about.

Now I have 3 duplicate contacts.
My mobile phone number is included, this is useless of course!. If instead of the duplicates and mine, Loqui would import the missing contacts, I would have all the ones I need!

@TitanNano

The problem the logs you sent me still don't contain any information about the contact syncing process.
Yesterday @cmeerw deployed v0.4.10 with the fixed log file writer. As soon as you got this version, you go to your Loqui settings. You make sure developer mode is enabled, you make sure debug mode is enabled and you enable "Write to Log File" again.

Then you can wait for a moment (maybe 3 seconds) you preform the syncing process and you wait again for about 30 to 60 seconds. Then you can turn off "write to log files" again. After you finish everything send me the files for the date you're did this.

@gaby2300

I followed what you told me.

I am sending you 2 logs, both from today and attached here:

  1. The one I obtained shaking the Flame
  2. The Loqui one obtained directly from the SD card

I hope they include all the information you need this time! If not,
please tell me so I'll repeat the procedure.

Please confirm you receive the message and the logs!

Many thanks!

The problem is that you are sending the mail to the discussion about the issue. I think Github won't show them then. You need to past the text of the logs into the mail or send a mail directly to cmerv, but therefore you would need his mail-address.loqui/im schrieb:Right, It seems Gmail is deleting them. @gaby2300 you can send the logs to cmeerw@cmeerw.org (btw, TitanNano has also provided his email address in the comments to this issue a few days ago).

BTW, it would be helpful if you could let us know at least one phone number that is in your phone's address book and who is using WhatsApp, but that doesn't show up in your Loqui contacts after the sync.

I can find all the registered by WhatsApp contacts except the one, I don't know whose number it is.
Regretfully 3 of them are repeated and my own number is included...

There are 2 contacts absent in both lists and 12 in the not registered by WhatsApp list.

Regretfully, I have more contacts in the not registered ones list. Do you know why or how is this possible?

@cmeerw there are several phone numbers in my phone's contacts actually have a WhatsApp account but don't show up in my Loqui's contacts, one of of them is
541164442657

and a few more including my brother and sister's ones which are in the not registered by WhatsApp list

Sorry, the above number is wrong because it does show in Loqui.

My brother and sister however use WhatsApp but don't show up in Loqui after the sync. It's just as I hadn't synced at all: I still have the same contacts I had after installing Loqui

I just answered you both in github!

Many thanks for your help!!!

@gaby2300 I really need a specific phone number that's in your address book, but then doesn't show up in Loqui (probably a screenshot of the address book entry so I can see what the format is there and the loqui logs of the sync) - feel free to send it directly to me at cmeerw@cmeerw.org if you don't want to post the information here.

I am sorry, but there is no way to debug the issue just with a description of "my brother's number doesn't show up after the sync".

@cmeerw I sent the screenshot to the address you suggest above, I hope it helps!

@gaby2300 got the screenshot. Can you try adding a plus in front of the number, so it starts with +54...

@gaby2300

Yes! And then try syncing?

cmeerw commented Nov 18, 2015

yes and then sync again (btw, you could also try replacing the 54 with 0, so the number starts with 011...)

@gaby2300

YES!!! The plus before the 54 did the trick!!!

Many thanks!!!

I'll do the same with the other numbers and I'll let you know if it works.

Seems to work as expected if phone number is correctly stored in address book, closing...
