This is just forwarded to daf_butler code that can take anything, so there's no need to use CollectionSearch here. And that insulates this code from changes to CollectionSearch.
These are needed for changes being merged in daf_butler only to the DM-27033 integration branch, but they are just ignored and hence safe to merge to master here.

These changes fix breakage on tickets/DM-27251, but don't cause problems on master, so this PR is against master to avoid (for now) maintaining a tickets/DM-27033 integration branch for this package.
