I made a few minor modifications. Updated to 1.5.3. Deleted the unnecessary static library. Moved the demo application to a variant. Provided notes on how to obtain the required demo test image, and changed it's searched location to something easily accessible.
I did not make installing the test image automatic as a distfile on purpose, to keep licensing clean.
Tested on my MacPro running High Sierra, worked smoothly and apparently correctly with my Radeon HD 5770.
