tweetfeed searches the twitter stream for defined hashtags and generates a rss feed (XML file) for your reading pleasures in your feedreader.
Installation is easy. Just clone the repository:
git clone git://github.com/madhatter/tweetfeed.git
Change to the tweetfeed directory and execute
bundle install
If you have no bundler installed, install it via gem
gem install bundler
There is only one configuration file config/tweetfeed.yml which looks like this: hashtags: hadoop, cloudera, hbase outfile: /home/madhatter/htdocs/tweetfeed.xml loglevel: 1 last_id: 168708216706973696 Normally it will be enough to configure only the first to parameters to your needs.
- Set
hashtags
to a list of hashtags you like to search for on the Twitter public timeline. - Set
outfile
to the path where you want the RSS feed file to be stored (including the filename).
You can choose between running tweetfeed as a Ruby script by executing
./bin/tweetfeed.rb
or starting it as a daemon by ./bin/tweetfeed_daemon.rb start
Logging information will be send to standard-out or to a logfile called tweetfeedd.output

- Version 0.2: Combine fresh items with old items from the last run(s).
- Remove dublicate URLs from feed
- Set limits to reduce processing time at first run
- Set the interval how often the search should be executed
- Exclusion list (exclude hashtags or maybe even domains in the links)
