Information Architecture

Brenda Moon edited this page Nov 10, 2013 · 5 revisions

This page describes the structure of pages on the new website, and how they relate to each other

Target audiences:

  • Potential Members
  • Current Members
  • Sponsors
  • Media
  • External Makers

Main navigation menu

  • Home (logo / title)
  • About
    • Facilities
    • Getting There
    • Code of Conduct - public version
  • Join
    • Benefits
  • Blog / Posts
    • News
    • Events
  • Projects
  • Wiki
    • Rules
    • Policies
    • etc. - Other key pages from wiki
  • Contact

On the contact page we should add some intro information at the top telling people which places are the best spot to start for different types of enquiry/contact. Example: "If you want to ask our members to help you build something then ask in the mailing list...", "If you want to know what workshops are available see xxx on the wiki".

The Contact menu item would be clickable (they all are) but would have a drop down list of "Twitter", "Facebook" etc that would take you straight to those places.

The links below wiki would go straight to those pages on the wiki (although maybe to pages on the site until the wiki is looking good).

Other ideas

  • Github link for website repository
  • Link to MHV Github account from intro on projects page.

In future may need Sponsors on main menu. Maybe also setup way for people to donate on website.
