NAOMI (c) 1998 Sega
NAOMI2 (c) 2000 Sega
Notes:
- The later revision games (released after GD-ROM had been discontinued) require the 'h'
revision bios, which checks the SH-4 ID register.
- List of boot error codes can be seen at https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/Sega_NAOMI_Error_Codes
- NAOMI2 is backwards compatible with regular NAOMI.
QA Notes (Update January 2022):
- Roadmap: https://github.com/mamedev/mame/projects/2
- Testing functional notes: https://github.com/angelosa/mame_qa/blob/main/mame_qa/naomi.md
- We currently don't promote anything out of this driver due of lacking important features
in PowerVR and AICA devices. Performance is also a concern.
- Manufacturers needs to be overhauled, also
cfr. MT#08143 about a necessity to at least log Sega divisions somehow.
- usability defaults, i.e. 31kHz dip switch and non-canonical service mode settings in NVRAM.

Later board revision, components layout more similar to Naomi 2, was added JP9-JP13 jumpers to configure CN8 serial port type, see below Naomi 2 description.
However, CN8 serial lines uses TTL UART 3V3 voltage levels, not +-12V RS-232C like Naomi 2.

Latest known revision, most notable difference - uses Actel FPGA instead of Altera FLEX.
Main components are later revisions (same as was seen in Sega-made Atomiswave PCB):
HD6417091T - Hitachi SH4 CPU, CPU version register = 0x040206c8, where 06 means it should be 7750S type, but it's not and missing 7750S's expanded features like INTC "Interrupt priority D" register.

315-6258A - video DAC/encoder, (QFP56)
315-6232A - Yamaha AICA SPU (QFP100)
315-6146A - custom Z80-based MCU (QFP176), was verified same firmware as 315-6146.
315-6415 - Actel A54SX08A FPGA

OSC1 - oscillator 50.0000MHz
IC1 - FPGA ACTEL A54SX32A (QFP208) SEGA part number 317-xxxx-yyy
On the end of the number, -JPN means it requires Japanese BIOS, -COM will run with any BIOS
IC11 - EPROM (DIP42), either 27C160 or 27C322
JP1 - JUMPER Sets the size of the EPROM. 1-2 = 32M, 2-3 = 16M

IC17S-IC38S - MaskROM (SOP44), either 32Mb or 64Mb. Not all positions are populated
CN1/2/3 - connectors joining to main board
Despite the fact this ROM board have SPI-type EEPROM, containing cartridge serial number,
from NAOMI side it read as X76F100-type, probably simulated by ACTEL FPGA.
Actual data is shuffled, address bits 3 to 6 have reversed order, i.e. 8 7 3 4 5 6 2 1 0.
