In designing a building structure one of the most and foremost concerns is electrical wiring. A slight of error in electrical apparatus may cause a massive accident in life. So it is a very sensitive to design the wiring system. By electrical wiring we refer that the position of different electrical appliances and how they are connected to each other. As we have previously mentioned that wiring is a very sensitive issue so we have to consider numerous things in designing and planning. Besides safety issue we also have to consider about the maximum satisfaction with minimum cost, that is cost effectiveness is another issue in electrical wiring.
As a course of Electrical & Electronic Shop Practice we were assigned to design the wiring system and estimate total cost of 3rd Floor of KUET GUEST HOUSE which is still under construction.
It is placed at the north side of the Administration building and east side of dormitory. Here the wiring is established for the third floor of the building.
The architectural view is shown first to see the whole building and to make it easy for an electrical engineer to have a total view of it. Then the load is applied on the top view. Again wiring means conduit is placed another picture of the structure. As it is a guest house, it has some great view of office, multipurpose hall, pavement etc. Here also 3-pin power point is applied. Using this air condition can be established further. The illumination is calculated to obtain the usable light and its placing. The maximum current is calculated from the load calculation. The conduit size as well as wire size and length are calculated. Hence considering all other equipment cost and labor cost the optimum cost is calculated for the 3rd floor.
Here the total wiring system is divided into 2 circuits. Each circuit has main switch with circuit breaker.
The 1st circuit = single phase and it covered room A, B, C & D
The 2nd circuit = single phase and it covered room E & F
