Steps to reproduce the bug:

1. Install gnome 45
2. Enable extension

Expected behavior

Extension working, instead i'm getting error

import declarations may only appear at top level of a module

There is also a quite long outstanding merge request for Gnome 44 which never got merged by the author of the project...

Someone forked the project, seems to maintain it and is currently working on Gnome 45 support.
The error you describe fits to what he is describing in the pull request.
