Could you try uninstalling and re-installing RPS, it seems that there is a file missing. Alternatively can you adjust your privacy settings in IE? Unfortunately IE is the only browser that allows close integration with windows applications, if Chrome or FireFox would offer the capabilities I would have used them instead. |
Hello Marijn, I tried to uninstalled and re-installed RPS. The version I downloaded from your website is: setup-rps4.5.10.1.exe Kind regards, Erik Van: Marijn Kampf [mailto:notifications@github.com] Could you try uninstalling and re-installing RPS, it seems that there is a file missing. You could try older version from: http://www.abscreensavers.com/random-photo-screensaver/version-information/ |
Hello Marijn, I now installed version 4.5.9.4. Unfortunately, it did not solve the issue. The configuration screen remains text-based. Could it be caused by me using Firefox as default browswer, not Edge? Note that I’m on Windows 10. When the screen saver is activated it shows the screen as below in the screen dump: A big 1 or 2 is displayed, the entire screen is white and the picture is shown at the very bottom of the screen. I need to scroll down using my mouse wheel to see the picture! Not what I had in mind… Do you have any suggestions? Thanks. I'm running RPS fine on several Windows 10 computers, which all have Chrome as their default browser. The only other issue I can think of is the security settings in Internet Explorer / Edge... If that doesn't work could you try an early version like 4.3 - just in the off change that something changed in between those versions. Alternatively you could go back to version 3 http://www.abscreensavers.com/random-photo-screensaver/version-information/rps3/version-information/ but that is no longer actively developed. |
Hi Marijn, Downloaded and installed version 4.3. Unfortunately no effect. This version cannot even find any images in my image folder… The screen is also the same: white background and a big 2 instead of a picture. In that case I'm afraid it's an issue with your setup rather than RPS. Did you check your security settings in IE / Edge? |
I see a text-only configuration screen (see attached screen dump), instead of a graphical interface.
It complains that I need to upgrade my Windows explorer, but I'm on Windows 10 using Edge. (why does it not use my default Firefox browser?).
I'm also not able to convince the screensaver which directory it should use for the photo'.s Although the folder is set correctly in the configuration (see attached screen dump), it still complains that it cannot find any photos in the original (default) file location somewhere in C:\my pics\
