Make Ctrl+C when entering search string abort search

I don't know why, but I quite often press / because I think I'm going to search for something, but then I change my mind and don't actually need to search. I guess I've gotten used from less to be able to cancel the search by pressing Ctrl+C. I've tried the same many tens of times with streampager without my muscle memory adapting yet (to <enter> followed by<esc>, I guess?).
