Yes, I cannot test it either, but I think it shouldn’t do anything wrong, so I have merged this PR to my repo https://git.sr.ht/~mcepl/vis.
this is mostly useful for the internal vis usage and makes both `*` and `+` registers work on macOS/cygwin. fixes: martanne#1067
