Right now shops don't have an individual page, we just pop them up slightly with more info within the same page. They'd like to be able to track on which shops users are clicking. What's the best way here?

  • add a fake path /shops/shop-name to the router that resolves to the same component, would GA track this without actually leaving the page?
  • add a hash to the url, something like “https://compraaospequenos.pt/shops/#some-awesome-shop to track when people are clicking on each shop. Can GA track hash changes?
  • Shop cards are technically buttons, can GA track individual button clicks? If yes, can we pass any info (i.e. job name) on those event trackers?

Hm, from what I know, if it is buttons, I need to track them individual on "tracking events". This means that I would need to create manually an "event" for each button

"Can Google Analytics track button clicks?
By default, Google Analytics only tracks information relating to page-views and visitors which gives you metrics like sessions, page-views and bounce rate. If you want to track things like clicks on links, PDF downloads, button clicks, form submissions, or even Mailto and Tel links, you have to set up event tracking."

Hi @luis - following up on the analytics topic, I have explored many options including google analytics tracking and google tag manager and it seems that the only way to "track" automatically card clicks (on each store) is through the URL.

We should probably integrate Google Tag manager so we can measure clicks on pretty much any element, including our custom cards. See https://support.google.com/tagmanager/answer/6106716?hl=en
