OpenSSL::PKey::RSAError on search

I set up a server on Docker Compose and when I try to do a search for an account on another server, I get a 500 server error. The log says:

As far as I can tell, the domain account doesn't have private/public key set, and that makes OpenSSL crash when it tries to parse :nil, "" as a key pair.

I'm guessing either the fetch should be able to happen without keys or those keys should have been set at some point, but that's way beyond my understanding.

Deleting the domain user from the database (DELETE FROM accounts WHERE username=<domain>;) seems to have fixed it. I think the user gets recreated when it gets "dependency-injected", if it does not exist. Still, something in DB creation must have gone wrong during install.

I'm assuming <domain> is the domain of your instance?

I'm facing the same issue as above, and am hoping to trace down the issue myself. Which version of mastodon are you using, and which version of postgres are you using?

Yes, <domain> is the domain of my instance. A better option would be to use DELETE FROM accounts WHERE id=-99;.

I am using tootsuite/mastodon:v3.5.1 off Docker Hub with postgres:14-alpine.

I just ran into the same issue. And I can conform that DELETE FROM accounts WHERE id=-99; seems to fix the issue. Thx!

I also had this problem last night and deleting the record with id=-99 solved the problem. Our docker mastodon server is now up and running. Thanks for the fix.
