[New instance question]: how to deal with rapidly growing media storage demand?

We've been running a new instance on a decent server for 3 weeks now and media storage has grown to 88 GB.

• Are there generally fediverse shared expectations on the longevity of media in posts?
• Is it something every host decides for themselves?
• Apart from the personal preference for auto-delete, are there admin-level tools for this?
