I joined Mastodon some time ago, looking for privacy friendly alternatives to Twitter and the like.
I am a very experienced computer user, but the Mastodon GUI is more than once unclear to me. A user friendly documentation website would be very welcome!
May I ask for an improvement for this scenario: viewing a video on a PeerTube site, and adding a comment using a Mastodon account.
Presently it works like this: on the Peertube video there is an empty comment line. Clicking shows a popup with two choices. Remote connect seems the best one. I fill in my Mastodon account: a Mastodon screen shows up. Here I would expect a comment field, but there is none. There is an empty Toot, but entering a comment on the video there does give the desired result. So what to do now? I already said that I wanted to comment on the video, but my wish has vaporized?
I looked for help on the internet, but could not find it... I gave up.
Sometime later I decided to go for trial and error. A click on 'favourit', that had effect, but no comment. I tried 'Reply' that resulted in @videopublisher in the toot. But no @... to the video... That still left me in doubt, but I gave it a try. And yes, the comment appeared under the video! So clicking on 'Reply' changed unvisibly the status/addressing of the Toot...
Comparing this to more general behavior on internet, I would like two improvements:
coming from the PeerTube to Mastodon, a banner message 'to comment on .... click on Reply'
after clicking on Reply the change of the status of the Toot should be visible, something like 'This toot will become a comment under video ...'.
