Steps to reproduce the problem

Use an embedded post in your web page

Expected behaviour

The embedded post loads performantly

Actual behaviour

The embedded post causes web page performance to degrade

Specifications

PageSpeed Insights reports poor "Time To Interactive" and "Total Blocking Time" scores on pages with embedded statuses.
PSI also reports unused JS and CSS
Embeds from mastodon.social load the "Roboto Regular" WOFF2 font 3x, for some reason.
PSI also reports extraneous main-thread work
