Mastadon should have a way to credit the authors of header images, by introducing a/the relevant field(s), such as description (for license & author(s)) and url (for linking to the source). Currently I typed the info in my bio, but that doesn't feel (seem) like the right place and i ran out of characters so cannot add the url of the source.
Motivation
For header images I tend to use cool Creative Commons photos, and I've seen some tooters using other's works as well. I would love to correctly attribute the creative minds that kindly shared their work, and introducing a copyright field (descr/url) would make that a easier (and maybe encourage people to correctly attribute where they currently might not).

What makes this even more complicated is the aspect of federation. Name, profile images, bio and header images are replicated between instances in the Fediverse. These instances need a legal basis to display this content as part of their website. And these instances are not necessarily Mastodon instances. If you add image credits to your bio or a profile field, it is not guaranteed that they will always be displayed alongside your profile or header image.
