Before 1.6 i dragged files into shortcuts on the sidebar all the time.
Since 1.6 this is no longer possible. No shortcut allows a file to be dragged into.

Where are you dragging them? You need to drag them under the section called "Bookmarks" on the top. If you're dragging them to the empty space at the bottom under "Network" it won't work there.

I am trying to drag them into the folder-shortcuts in the bookmark-section, yes. Are you implying this works for you?

Yes, if I drag folders into the Bookmarks section at the top, bookmarks are created.

Files do not work, but I can't recall that files worked before, I'll double check.

What distro are you running?

I'm running Mint 14 using the ppa from mate-desktop.org
I too can still create bookmarks but no longer move files into existing bookmarks.
I used to do that all the time when i moved stuff from my download-folder to the categorized folders on my external drive.
I can still move files into the places section. The bookmark section behaved the same way.

Ahhh, I see what you're saying. So, you can drag and drop files into the regular locations, but not into the bookmark locations.
