Cannot close mator smash, not sure if patch is working #179
Comments
Fix antivirus/filesystem permissions. Smash isn't able to save files to disk because your system/AV isn't letting it. |
I set the firewall to allow mayor smash, ran it as admistator, and changed the mator smash permissions in properties to allow all access. None of this worked. The same error showed up.

OK, Let's see what we can find out. Getting information
Possible solutionsUnblock executableRight-click MatorSmash.exe, choose properties, and click "Unblock" if it is present. Take ownershipTake ownership of the Mator Smash folder Disable Windows Defender / add an exclusionWindows 10 - add exclusion to windows defender antivirus Disable third party AVThis depends on your third party AV. Do a google search if you're running one. Install smash somewhere else on diskIf all of these things don't work then you should try moving smash to a different location on disk. |
I got it to work! Thanks for all your help. I am running Windows Defender. Controlled folder access is off. The path C:\Program Files\Mator Smash\profiles\TES5\PluginInfo.json does exist, though I did create it when I first encountered the error as an attempt to fix it. I am running windows 10. In the past on this computer I has used both TES5edit patches and Wrye Bash Patches. I am using Vortex. I have changed the owner to me, I confirmed it by checking the properties, then security, then advanced. I have no third party AV. I reinstalled the file to program files (x86) and it worked until I ran a patch. I appears to be unable to put things in its own folder. |
Never mind all of that. It works... Haha guess moving it fixed it? Sorry for any bother! |
Glad you got it fixed. 👍 |
