I tried to set up a Puppeting-only bridge (i. e. completely ignoring channel linking) so I could use Element instead of the original Slack client (just for me, not serving others). Following the description for puppeting, it looks like there is something missing. The docs literally say:

client_id and client_secret can be found on the OAuth page of your Slack App (under https://api.slack.com/apps).

In fact, that page says: I do not have any apps. Apparently the bridge expects me to create an app on Slack, even if I do not want to link channels.

Maybe this is missing on the Puppeting section of the docs?
